Letter from the editor

About 2,000 years ago a pastor named Paul wrote a letter to a community of Christians in big trouble. Living in Corinth—a port city where many different cultures, religions, and businesses intersected (a place much like the San Francisco Bay Area)—these followers of Jesus were losing their way. Their church was splintered.

In just a few short years of existence, the church at Corinth was overwhelmed with problems: pride, deep division, sexual immorality, misuse of spiritual gifts, confusion about singleness and marriage, confusion about calling and the workplace, idolatry, litigation troubles, misguided worship, etc. The Apostle Paul directly addresses each of these sins and struggles in his letter to the Corinthians.
